THE ART ROUTE

From Hazyview to Sabie and White River to Mbombela (Nelspruit), local art is displayed in small galleries and art shops, showcasing one of a kind artworks. We have guided tours available, or it is possible to self-drive the route too.

The recommended route includes a visit to Perry’s Bridge near Hazyview where you will find African Silks and Artefunto Contemporary Art Gallery and other interesting shops. Continue on to Bosch Ceramic Art Studio and Casterbridge Farm where the White River Art Gallery, The Loop Art Foundry and the Vintage Motor Museum are big attractions. (Fans of vintage cars may be interested in visiting Old Car Haven in Whiteriver too).

In the afternoon, make your way to the arty town of Kaapschehoop, where numerous antique shops and artist’s workshops, including D-liteful Glass Work and Vedic Art at Soul Creations can be explored.

There are also numerous craft markets dotted along the Panorama Route, providing typically African curios which range from tiny leather and beaded bracelets to large wooden carvings of birds and wildlife.

Whether you’re looking for Fine Art or traditional African crafts, Mpumalanga offers a number of unique stops to get something that will remind you of your trip for years to come.
